We beat the storms

Next swim: Sunday, noon

Last swim: Saturday, noon
Water temp: 50
Water quality: cloudy, clearer in close
Waves: small to nothing
Kru: Patriarch, Handyman Hank, Showgirl, Panini, Itch, Linda the lamprey, Liz, Greg, Magic Mike with shore support from Squeeze O’Showgirl

I have noticed something recently during these cold water swims. The Kru is tough-ass. Greg and I were the only swimmers who put on wetsuits before going in the water. Obviously, I understand Greg’s thinking. I totally admire, but fail to understand, those who swam skin these last few days. Way to go!

Here’s hoping today’s turbulent weather brings newly moderated temps: cooler air and warmer water. We’ll find out tomorrow: noon bell, at the flag pole.

Sunday a small Krew accumulated and walked down. Itch reported 52 and 53'F on either side of wall. What the heck. We suited up, went skin or half and off. Beyond the rocks felt like at least 54'F. I saw arms slapping the waves further out and thought, Must be warmer out there. Headed out but the waves pushed me in and pushed out. Reaching and pull with the right arm only to be on top of wave and find air. Laft arm too much wave and tried to roll over. This isn't too bad, just keep going. All of a sudden I at the birches with no slapping arms in sight. Gotta get to land slide. Waiting at land slide is Itch, Noodle Julie and New Greg, bobbing in the waves. The wind and waves then carried me back. Fantastic swim!

Handyman completed an official swim on Sunday evening. I remained on shore. Our guess for water temps was between 55-59ish. Calm.

Atwater yesterday at 6:00 pm was mid 60s with fun 2 ft swells. No vis in the water though.

Not a bad swim Monday Evening. A motley kru: Patriarch, Itch and Kahuna. (We would need a fourth swimmer and two umlauts to be the Motley Crue.) Itch-o-meter reportedly read 60, with experience registering warmer and colder spots once we got out there.
Poetry Corner:
Sunny skies, rolling waves.
Few there to misbehave,
Water now sorta murky,
But the Pitcsh wards off the scurvy,
Two wetsuits, one skin.
Next, Tuesday 6 pm.
