Night Watch

Next Swims:
Mon-Fri 6:15 am and 5pm
Saturday/Sunday 8 am and Noon

Last Swim: Friday at 6:15
Water Temp: 62
Air Temp: 63 and damp - felt colder
Clarity: Dirty, but seen worse
Waves: Regular 4 foot waves
Kru: Dragonfly, Mr. Bubble, Showgirl, Lydia TTL, Magic Mike (shore support?)

Started getting excited last night watching the weather forecast on the channel 58 news - it said the lake water was 69 degrees, and was at least 10 degrees warmer than the air temperature than any of the cities between Kenosha, Sheboygan and Madison.  Woke up this morning intending to go to the 5 am masters swim at 0500, but kept thinking about the lake.  Texted the Atwater Buoy - ghosted!  Checked buoy 45009, 43 nm from Milwaukee - 68 degrees!  Thermal Inversion has come again - we don't need no stinking wetsuits!  Off to Klode.

Got to Klode and see Dragonfly in the parking lot - wearing jeans and flannel and looking a little cold. We're both thinking - it's kind of rough out there so we probably shouldn't go in if it's just the two of us.  But, of course, that's the Klode Kru experience - rationalizing/negotiating with that little voice in your head that keeps saying "I probably shouldn't do this!" Dragonfly make some comment about peer pressure.  Then the peers show up - Showgirl, Lydia and Magic Mike pull in to the parking lot.  Next thing you know, we're all marching down to the beach.

Get down to the beach and do the mitch-o-meter thing.  Was hoping to watch the numbers go up, but instead they go down by just 1 degree.  When I come out, notice there's something in the sand.  Mr. Mike mentioned he came last night - he thought it's Brick's watch because it was found in the area where Brick usually leaves his stuff.

Last Night's Watch (Brick?)

The Night Watch (Rembrandt)

Waves looked pretty reasonable until we actually got in the water - than they started showing off.  Quite a thrill ride.

Here's the thing about the 6:15 am start time, Mr Bubble. We can do the 5am WFB swim, then meet the Kool Kids at Klode for the good swim. No need to choose. You can always do them both!

Showgirl described the swim as "Brief but epic."
And - we would TOTALLY go if just two of us - !

But if its just one, we totally would not go, because we do not have any "WWG1WGA" nut jobs in our group. Thanks be to God.

Solo swimming can be great, and it doesn't necessarily make one a nut job.

Are you planning to swim on Sunday? I could get it back to you at either 8 or Noon. Could meet up with you someplace on Saturday if Sunday doesn’t work.

Swims keep getting better!!
Friday night 62° with a bit of chop and unexpectedly clean water. Halcyon days shared with Laguna family, Sandy,Brick, Diablo, and We'taco, Synchro and Mars(so well behaved).
Just so freaking lovely to swim in warm clearish water after a rather rough week!! No way in heck we're even close to calling it quits! Here's to seeing you on the beach tomorrow... tomorrow... tomorrow...!! Still doing 5pm and 6:15am weekly.
Paradise is lake swimming.....Great lake swimming.
