Still a little riled up

Next Swims: Tuesday 5pm, Wednesday thru Friday 6am & 5pm

Last Swim: Tuesday, 6am
Air Temp: upper 50s, low 60's
Water Temp:  about 70
Waves: 2-3 feet
Clarity: -5, so much stuff in the water, it was almost like swimming through a slushie.

Kru: Pool Noodle, Mr. Anonymous, Magic Mike

Things were still a little riled up this morning. We first headed down to the normal changing area at the south end of the beach. PN suggested we try to get in off the north side of the north jetty. It had worked yesterday for her. We assented and headed over that way. The swim was a little unsettling. The water was so mucked up as to be dark when we swam (even after sunrise!). At one point a few strokes into the swim I looked over and PN was holding a pretty big stick in her fist over her head with pride. Turns out she had snagged it mid-stroke, and just came up with it. Pretty slick!

Mr. A and I swam on to the far end of the white wall. PN swam at least as far as mudslide, I suspect. We agreed that our destinations are all the closer because of the place we got in. Damn near to sewer pipe as a take off point! It was also one of those swims where the water was warmer than the air (see stats above). In fact as I swam, I noticed that my arms got cold as they recovered through the air (and in the wind), and warmed back up during the underwater part of the stroke.

I don't know if there was a moonrise swim contingent last night. If there was, they were brave and rewarded with a pretty impressive moonrise. This was taken at moonrise last night above Atwater:

Checking out the 98% illuminated moon tonight with forecasted clear skies and not so turbulent waters, perhaps third attempt will be charmed. Moonrise at 9:11 may require some strategy around some beach closing times.
