Following our traditional post swim round of Pitsch today Gumdrop offered up a batch of his Chocolate Salty Balls.  Feeling a bit adventurous today I sampled one of Gumdrop's now famous creations.  "Interesting" is about the only way I can describe it. (I think they may actually be the secret that was used to get Mr. Ed to talk....)  Mixed with a round of Pitsch the combination turned out to be quite entertaining...thanks to Buffy's suggestive thoughts it was long after sampling Gumdrop's creations that visions of Buffy and AliKat rolling down the Klode park bluff to the beach began to float around in my head.  Shortly after this I began to sing a familiar grade school rhyme "AliKat and Buffy rolling down a hill...then they went SW-I-M-M-I-N-G...first came the Kru, then came the hill..."  Thank goodness Diablo was there to snap me out of it!

It was of course my pleasure to give everyone a sample of my chocolate salty balls. I was equally happy that everyone found them tasty, with the lone exception of Diablo who decided not to partake. Indeed with the secret ingredients of mesquite powder cinnamon and crushed red pepper flakes it adds a slightly meaty robust yet sweet flavor all at once. Simply irresistible once one has had a bite of my chocolate salty balls. They also have crushed nuts and good dates. All pureed to a fine texture then mixed in coconut oil and slightly chilled, though they were slightly warmed by the time we got back. Usually they are about inch sized balls, though sometimes bigger and more challenging to get ones mouth around, as Showgirl found out on Friday. Now that I know that they are so well liked, I will have to bring my balls out more often for all to enjoy!

Just wanted to clarify that I don't think tonight will be the last swim of the season - but it may be the last time we won't freeze our butts off getting out of the water!! Any takers for 5:30 pm? If so, pls post or email me at malcoe@uwm.edu.
