In all my years swimming in Lake Michigan I never experienced anything like this.  Swimming along when suddenly a large black torpedo comes straight at me.  It was maybe 4-5 feet deep and rising as it came at me.  I instinctively threw up my arms and it brushed against them.  Then it popped out of the water and flew away.  It was a cormorant!

Good lord I picked the wrong day to miss a swim (or stop huffing), but the video made me feel at home. I hope the bird that torpedoed past you didn't also just finish a large meal.

At first I thought Patriarch was hitting the pitch a little early that day when he said he was attacked by this bird but then I looked out by the picnic table area and there it was, this big black bird on the water. It looks big from a distance so up close it must to be startling. At one point he was just a few yards from one of the last swimmers coming in.
