Battle Royale

Next Swim:  Tuesday October 18th 5:30PM

Last Swim:  Monday October 17th 5:30PM
Water:  50 clear with small rollers
Swimers: Itch & Wet Taco, Spectators:  Hank and Patriarch

Ralph and Alice, Lucy and Desi, George and Gracie, Archie and Edith, Kim and Kanye, Itch and Wet Taco.  You don't need to tune into the Hillary/Donald debate to see a good fight between the sexes, just come down to the beach and listen to Itch and Wet Taco trade insults and put downs.  I was a little worried when the two of them plunged into the water that only one would return, but thankfully their battle is just verbal (so far).

I just want Itch to like me, but until I pay him and/or stop overdressing/speaking out loud, it'll never happen. Maybe not even then.

It's not really a battle, it's more frustration at the lake. We're both trying to figure out where all the warm water is. Each has a theory, yet no answers to be found. Just wanna swim a little longer. We're just sublimating each others frustrations/rage to a seemingly uncaring lake. People get in the way of warm water, cause the lady of the lake is ccccccoooooollllllddddd! and she don't care!

not worried about the shekl's.

OK, the water's cold, so maybe it's time to start thinking about the Birkie instead. The Old Farmer's Almanac is predicting ample snow and cold weather for this winter up North (yippee!). That's the great thing about the Birkie, it can completely change your orientation and attitude about winter weather.

The Birkie is holding a local promotional meeting next Thursday at the new Bavarian Inn (Glendale), 6-8 p.m. or so. Tasty food, cold beverages, good company including special guests from USSA (Executive V.P., and local skiing hero Luke Bodensteiner). Ben Popp (ABSF Executive Director) will also be there to give an update on the new Birkie-week race schedule and the all-new (heated!) starting-line shelter and area. Silent auction and lots of stuff generously donated by the Bike Doc and Wheel & Sprocket will be there. If you XC ski, you should attend the event. If you don't XC ski, you should attend the event, and find out about what you are missing. The Birkie is a unique and challenging event, which has a ridiculously devoted following (I did my first Birkie in 1984, and am greatly hoping to be at full strength soon, so I can do the Race this year as well).

A number of Kru members have done the Birkie, and hopefully will be there that evening.

More details about next Thursday's event is at this link: http://www.birkie.com/future/phase-two/birktoberfest/. Cheers. -- Sandie

There is no such thing as cold water, its called ice, and even then, one can always get a shovel and a pick, so stop your whining and toughen up buttercups.

Its 53F at Racine North Point Beach right now. I may be a southbound buttercup this week.
