Good Trends, Bad Trends

Next Swim: Sunday 7/11 1:00PM Klode

Last Swim: Sat 7/10 noon Klode
Water temp: about 60, but pockets of much warmer and much colder
Waves: small chop
Water Clarity: Crystal Clear
Crew: Diablo, Gumdrop, Cap'n, Blondie, Perry, Robin, Beth, Patriarch

I'm very happy to report a warming trend in water temps. There are still pockets of very very cold water, but mostly it's much warmer. Hopefully the water warm will win the battle.

On the other hand I'm sorry to report that Cap'n has joined the disturbing trend started by Gumdrop by wearing a "European cut" suit. It might be OK for the likes of Michael Phelps and Mark Spitz, but ........................ need I say more?

I was wondering if you could do a little research on a Brazilian cut swim suit for me...will it make me swim faster? Or will it make the gentlemen swim faster if I get a head start on the swim?? :)

That or I can just sit on the beach in case anyone needs CPR again...

Back to more important issues: Do we want to swim at noon, instead of 1:00, given that the World Cup starts at 1:30?

After much research, I believe I have found the perfect Brazilian cut to help Blondie swim faster, with the additional benefit of making the gentleman (and perhaps the occasional gentlewoman)swim slower. http://www.lookswimwear.com/product.php?productid=16423&cat=268&page=1
Notice the tassels in this deep pink combo. They are perfect for tracking the whole fluid dynamics efficiency equation for faster swimming. The tri minded reader may have heard of strings being attached to cyclists to trace their aerodynamics on the bike. I believe the same concept should work in the water, and the deep pink color should make it easy to trace. With the additional speed gained, soon, I'm sure, it is the guys that will be drafting off of you, you may want to double knot those tassels though, to avoid any possible entanglements resulting in wardrobe malfunction !:-)

One other comment: Heartiest congratulations to Gwen Jorgensen. Gwen took third for the women to lead the United States at Saturday's San Francisco ITU Triathlon Pan American Cup, which was held in conjunction with the San Francisco Triathlon at Treasure Island. Gwen was swimming with us last Sunday in some cold water at Big Bay, and hopefully that helped her to feel right at home in San Fran habor. Excellent job Gwen! And good luck training in Colorado this week.
