Pirates Pizza Night Thursday 4/18 7PM at Lisa's

I'm extremely happy to report that Cap'n and Crash dodged the bullet (literally!) at the Boston Marathon.  What better reason to celebrate with some pizza, some beer, and perhaps even Pitsch one because we're so glad to see them in one piece!

Hey! Great to hear!

Hi, friends! It's getting close to that time. The late spring has delayed us a bit, but I feel like the new season will be here soon. I went down to the lake this morning and took a measurement. At 6:30 AM it was 48.2 degrees. Still too cold for me. But hopefully we are on the way up north of 50. See you soon!

I'm looking forward to getting back in the water as well. This will be my first spring swimming the big lake after being spoiled with the warm water most of last summer. What is the minimum temperature when people start back up in the spring?

Hey Swimming Friends - Perhaps one of you can answer this question about the Shorewood HS pool. It's a 50m pool, but it has that sliding platform. The starting blocks are in the deep end. So I'm assuming that the only time it's really a 50m pool is when that platform is slid all the way down to the shallow end? And that in it's usual configuration, it's substantially less?
Thanks,
Beth (aka Showgirl :)

With the platform in place for lap swimming it is 25 yards.

Who needs the SHS pool, when we've got the whole lake?

I wholeheartedly agree, but if I want to do more than gasp and wheeze when we start, then I need to endure the confines of the pool. (Today was only my 3rd swim of 2013. :) )

Next Swim: ??

Last Swim: Sun 05/19
Water Temp: 58!
Air temp; 73
Waves: Calm
Water Clarity: somewhat cloudy
Crew: Gumdrop with special guest Diablo

Children splashing in the water under a good sun and a trio with guitar on the rocks. What a great day for a swim! There I serendipitously met Diablo along with several of his demons :-). The Lady calls.

That's impressive! Was it really 58???? Let's get the season underway. When is the 6:00 AM crew starting regular morning swims? I'm ready to off this treadmill (literally and figuratively).

In my excitement, I went down to the lake this morning to take the temp. It was 51.5 degrees. Still slightly below my comfort line of 53, but probably within the margin of error. Does anyone want to plan on a Saturday swim to kickoff the season? Chime in if you do. Also, if the water is doable on Saturday, I plan to start regular morning swims on Tuesday next week at 6:00 AM. Come one, come all.

The Lady calls. Count me in. Patriach, post a swim.

Wow, the second temp map on the blog shows some 68 degree temperatures close by. Credible?

I'm in.

Any day including tomorrow morning.

Also..... I ran into the Patriarch about a week ago on the bike path and he told me they were taking a 2 week vaca to San Francisco. He may still be there.

So what's the call? 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 25? Not a good looking temp map, but sometimes, ya just gotta say, "Fwa, Fwa, Fwa."

I'm in for a swim tomorrow morning. Does 10:00 work for everyone?
