3rd Annual Polar Bear Swim Summary

Last Swim: Sunday January 1, 2012 12PM
Water Temp: 35
Air Temp: 34, mostly cloudy, windy
Waves: small
Water clarity: cloudy
Crew: Gumdrop, Bubba, Crash, Lil' Sista, Bob, Sam, Don, P-Higgie, Alex, Igor, Scott, Capt'n

Below are some picture from today's most excellent Polar Bear (viking) swim adventure. Bubba, Gumdrop clad in a special New Year's swim outfit (see pics) and I all braved the strong westerly winds gusting occasionally over 40mph to log a viking swim.

Reports indicate that all crew members who walked the plank today successfully returned but noticeably absent from our Post Plunge Pitsch Celebration was Bubba...the last we saw of Bubba (...that I can recall...) is the picture below of Bubba successfully returning from his swim.

Anybody going out into lake Michigan on Saturday? It looks like it's going to be a pretty nice day. I may try it.

Congratulations to all, especially to the Southerner Bubba, who I'm sure this was quite foreign to. Great picture of Cap'n, showing good form; Gum Drop's form? Not so much. Where is the usual report on distance swam?

Whats that, Gumdrop form not so good? That makes about as much sense as a talking tree to me. Oh hey, by the way Kahuna, I was going to take you up on those ski lessons but there doesn't seem to be enough snow. Could that be a coincidence? I think maybe the Lady of the Lake requires a sacrifice this Sat to appease her for the loss of the missing Kahuna Tree.

P.S.
The global no pants subway rides are scheduled to take place this Sunday. See; http://improveverywhere.com/2012/01/03/global-no-pants-subway-ride-2012/

for details and a city near you. Chicago is the closest one around here. For those looking to ease in to cold water swimming this could be a good way to acclimate those speedos!

When is Captain or Patriarch going to do a new post, so I won't have to keep scolling rapidly past Gumdrop's photos?

No Kidding Kahuna. Talk about Not Safe For Work!

Oh c'mon! I'm casting my vote for at least one "man-in-a-speedo" photo in EVERY blog post.

Captain? Patriarch? Where are you? Can't you come up with some new material to post? The curretn post is not safe for work in deed; folks be thinking Kahuna is into some pretty weird stuff, if they see Gumdrop's smiling face on my desktop monitor. Can't Patriarch come in off the ski trails for just a few minutes, and post something about something? Write about the Birkie, write about his granddaughter, write about his parrot, post pictures of either of them, anything but what we got currently! Fyi, my group Greater Shorewood Bikers is holding a party, outdoors on the Deck at Harry's (on Oakland Avenue, in Shorewood)on Wednesday, February 15, 8 - 10 pm. All Klode Krew are welcome. See the Greater Shorewood Bikers blog for details

I think thou protest to much. Not to mention that even the FCC is more tolerant than you cry babies. Where were you by the way? Perhaps if you were present, your pic would be posted. Well, I guess that’s a lesson for you, don’t show up and look what happens! Now on to more serious matters. What has happened to the secret elixir? This is something you should be worrying about. I am hoping that this is only a temporary condition of scarcity due to the popularity of this belly warming liquor in the harsh winters their having across the pond this year.
