Above, the Cascades, and their 1963 hit "Listen to the Rhythm of the Falling Rain"
Report Re: 7/26 morning swim.
Upcoming Swims: See below "typical" schedule.
Kru: Rob ("That was Outstaning"), Sam, Joan, Ala, Julie, Kahuna
Water: Low 70s by the toe. Very pleasant. Water pretty clear. No noticeable current.
Air Temp and Weather: When we arrived, and for the first half of the swim, there was a light, pleasant rain coming down. Cloudy. No wind.
Typical Weekly Swim Schedule: The Typical Schedule for group swims is M-F 6 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; Sat. & Sun. 8 a.m. and noon. All swims (unless otherwise expressly indicated are at Klode Beach (WFB). Check blog comments, for additional "impromptu" group swims, or changes to the schedule.)
Other Notes: Their were two treasure hunters on the beach this morning, who were searching for a long time like over an hour, but it seemed without a metal detector. Maybe they should go down to the first staircase south, and see what's in the submerged chest (which lies on the Lake bed, about two Diablo's deep; see prior blog entries for more precise coordinates). What's in the box? Who knows what could be in there? Epstein's "Little Black Book"? The truth is out there.

Sunday 7/27, 8:00 AM swim. There 13, 14, or maybe 15 of us. Air was in the 70’s felt hot and muggy Ug. Water was measured by Sandy at 71’F with a few cooler spots out there. Water was calm and clear with a slight current heading north. So we swam north. At land slide I stopped and watched a dozen or so buoys just keep heading north into the distance. I think they were heading for Manatowac or maybe Madeline Island in Lake Superior, idk. On my return I occasionally floated on my back enjoying the blue sky, green bluff and sand ripples down at the bottom.
Best swim of the season.
Fyn Fin Klodecky, Sunny Luna Laguna, Cindy and I all went to Crystal Palace....and a little beyond so Cindy could clock 5k. They were all skin, I did a shorty wetsuit since it was my FIRST TIME to Crystal Palace!!! Bucket List, baby!!!

Sunday, 7/27, Noon Swim Report:
Water temp: 75.5 at beach. Out there, maybe high 70's (or even 80's) in the top 2 or 3 inches. Cooler (better) below. By daring to say this, I'm asking to be cursed by the Lake Gods, but the top layer was actually "too warm."
Clarity: Clear.
Waves: Flat. A noticeable, but not terrible, current push from the South.
Kru: Itch, Cap'n (both of whom "went long"), Bobber, John, Super Herra, Bakhtiari, Gigi, Audry, with shore support from Julie.
Other notes: There were just one or two boats when we started out, but by the time we finished, it was a marina North of our beach. Hot, hot, hot in the sun. Nice to see all the varied civilians in the park and down on the beach, everybody getting along, enjoying the sun, the sand and the water. Pete Hegseth may hate the saying "Diversity is our strength," but I think Pete doesn't know what he's talking about.
