TTL takes temperature.
Flat Rock grooved up pretty quickly as we were lifted north by a gentle current past the stairs (more beach than last year) and past the Great Wall of China at the Herman Uihlein residence. (This future Klode Kru clubhouse is listed at a cool $7 mill, give or take.)

Naturally "Lakefront Privacy" doesn't apply to the Kru, who were already scoping out possible chairs for sitting on and stairs for access to chairs.
The water was warm and comfortable. A few swimmers overshot Flat Rock (got to be good looking cos he's so hard to see) but were recalled by the triumphant cries of those already surmounting it (come together...right now....over me!) We stood in a row, gilded gold accented with bright green, pink, and orange caps & barbies. If only someone had been there to capture it.
The Kru was in full outreach mode, as sunrise watchers inquired about our times & places. A gentleman who gave his occupation as "Pfister Chef" walked with Showgirl and MJ up the hill. He was assured he could join our group...especially if he brought breakfast!

HH, NSN, and Marion the Librarian did an early am swim, although later than the numerous backpacks on the Klode beach we found as we arrived. NSN ran into Luna and chit chatted for a while in the warm, calm water and bright morning sun. HH viewed the cute chairs from the water, but did not go sit in them. NSN and Marion went to the mudslide--which has filled in with vegetation to a point where we might have to give it a different name. And am I imagining things, or has the staircases along the shore multiplied? These lakefront homeowners trying to keep up with their neighbors have gone on a staircase building binge.
Or is it something more sinister I wonder. Beware the staircase.
Anyone wanna swim this eve a little later than 5p, say 530 or 6p?
By "this eve" I meant Th eve.
Waiting for the last mtg to start. I would swim at 6 though if that works
@Wytosk - apologies! I got a migraine and stopped checking the comments abt 430p.
Not a problem. Migraines are zero fun - I hope it dissipates quickly!
Friday morning report: Kru lite (Magic Mike, Showgirl, Dragonfly, Kahuna and new recruit from the big bay swim and recently transplanted Gopher, Christine). Welcome Christine! Don't worry, its not always that wavy. Water temp 67 degrees (warmer than the air temp). Clarity, near the beach a bit gunky (but not bad), much clearer 40 yards out. Waves: not big water, but on it's way towards big water. My guess is pleasant water temps will hold through the weekend, so should be some good swimming. As Rod Roddy (Bob Barker's announcer, not a pornstar) would say "Come on Down!"
Oh, and I guess we are now counting WimHoffers too, so three of them as well. Plus several of what I expect were high schoolers, down on the beach with blankets, attempting the noble but ultimately likely sisyphean task of trying to get just a few more hours/memories out of this swifty ebbing summer.

FYI
For those that can’t click the link, ‘dangerously high e.coli levels reported at Doctor’s, Atwater and Klode Beach as of 8/25’.
They say this time due to runoff. Very interesting.
A good rule of thumb is -24 after the pour.
So the article says the beaches are shut down. Can we still swim at Klode Sat? I agree w Moondaug, we should be fine 24 hours after rain, esp given the strong recent currents.
According to the Northwestern Medicine website: "Escherichia coli — E. coli — is everywhere. Most forms of this bacteria are harmless and important for digestive health." My belief has always been that beach advisories should be heded by parents, and it is a good idea not to let your kids, especially small kids who are often sticking there fingers in their mouths, get in the water on high e coli days. Same for folks who are immuno compromised. In all these years I've been swimming at Klode, I've never heard of a Kru member getting diagnosed with a water bourne disease after swimming (e.g., e coli, cryptosporidium or giardia).
Don't let a little "turdibity" keep you from enjoying the warm water.
Sunday noon a feisty group swam through warm, turquoise, wavy, currenty (from the south) water.
