Walking on Sunshine

 Next swims:
Monday-Friday:  6:30 am and 5 pm
Saturday/Sunday: 8 am and Noon

Last Swim:  Saturday Noon
Water Temp:  57
Air Temp:  50 on arrival, 55 on departure
Waves:  2-3 footers coming pretty frequently.
Clarity: Little murky but pretty good.  6/10
Kru:
Early Shift:  Itch and Rosie
Noon Shift:  Blake, The Other Dave, Moondaug, Rachel, Mr. Bubble

Arrived to see Itch and Rosie putting their street clothes on.  Was a little disoriented at first - kept thinking about the movie Tenet, where people and objects can be turned in to some kind of anti-matter that can move backwards in time.  Difficult to explain if you haven't seen the movie.  Difficult to understand the movie, too.  🤔

Once again, it's awesome swimming in water that's substantially warmer than the air.  Plus bright sunshine makes the air feel warmer than it really is.  I originally thought I'd go swim at 8 today, until I saw the forecast air temp at that time was 39.  Some other brave souls went at 8 and reported that the water felt warm, they just felt cold when they got out of that warm water.  That's life at Klode in October, except the water is usually colder.

Hopefully everyone knows by now that Klode Beach is 100% open

Best Swim of the Season
Thanks for bringing it Rachel!

Air temp: Mid fifties

Waves: Smallish

Next swim: Sun noon, weekdays?(post)

The beach is back! We once again meet at the shores of Klode, overcoming uncertainties to slip into another immersion. The Autumn is calling. See the changing leaves, at peak now, along the shore. Turn your head and puffy clouds abound in a blue sky just hanging around. Take a breath and save a little for the day.

Feel the crisp water invigorate as you head further into the season. Swimming through the Autumn into Winter is also a great way to become acclimated to ice water swimming, if one is so inclined. Warm up after, with hot cider and bask in the glow of...

Heaven

Klode Beach is open now but the parking lot is still closed

Last Swim:  Saturday 7-8 am @Klode

Kru:
0700 - Sandy
0730 - Mr. Bubble
0800? - Linda the Lamprey

Got to Big Bay at 0700 and waited till about 7:10.  Then read the blog and got the bright idea that maybe there would be one or more people swimming there.  Some folks on the beach told me there was a woman who went swimming northbound, but they'd lost sight of her.

It was much sunnier at Klode, and everything looked perfect.  I couldn't resist going in.  Sure, my fingertips were a little cold, but the water was SO much warmer.  I literally felt like I was swimming in a hot tub - it was heaven!  Definitely did NOT want to stop swimming - stayed in for about an hour and went exploring those BAR's Itch and other's were commenting on.

When I got out, Sandy had just finished up - she didn't want to stop swimming either.  Linda came ashore just a minute later.  Bright sun was out, didn't really feel the least bit cold.  I even jumped back in the water to warm up.

A Very Brief Blog

Next swims: Monday-Friday, 6:30 am and 5 pm  (Big Bay)

ATTENTION:  WE ARE NOW MEETING AT 6:30 A.M. TO ACCOMMODATE THE LATER SUNRISE!

Saturday/Sunday, 7 am, 8 am (Big Bay) and Noon (Klode?) perhaps people will share in the comments

Last Swim: Wednesday, 6:30 AM - Big Bay
Water Temp:  64
Waves:  Big Chop coming in diagonally from the South-Southeast
Clarity: Tan opaqueness
Air Conditions:  Clear sky, nice sunrise, high 60s, humid
Kru:  Showgirl,  Lydia the Tattooed Lady, Mermaid Princess, Dragonfly - 1 wetsuit, others used combinations of sleeves & booties

There was a lot of yelled chitchat on the beach, but I couldn't really hear it between the crashing waves and my ear plugs.

I think my standards have just gotten lower - last week I would have said, "It's too rough to swim."

But as the colder seasons approach, "It's like Bar Time," said Mermaid Princess.  "Your options become more limited."

Yeah, I guess I'll have one more.  We thrashed our way up to the Little House (first I've actually seen it) and MP went to the Kayak rack.  A lot of up and down, easier or at last faster on the way back.

Coming in to shore was like coming in for a landing, but the waves were just this side of manageable.

I wanted to post this picture from Sunday (Marathon Day) when the water was calm and clear as glass.  This is looking south from midway along the jetty - I hadn't noticed the grafitti before:

PSA - Heads Up, Milwaukee Marathon

For those very few of us not actually competing in today's Marathon:

Heads up that the race starts at 7:30 at Grafton High School, follows the Lakeshore south and ends Downtown (Summerfest grounds, I believe) with a cut off time of 6.5 hours (2 p.m.).

This could impact traffic/parking on the way to the beach!
