Last night and this morning we braved the scary red e-coli beach health sign to no detriment. So far. Check back in 3-4 days per Lorraine.
Those present last night received their new and improved Kru swim caps, hemmed and hawed, and jumped into the water, swimming south. I arrived at the picnic table, got creeped out by all the bubbles on the top of the water, and headed back. Most swam further.

Modelling our fab red caps |
We were chased off the beach by hoards of attacking flies, did a quick shot of Killepitsch, and met up at Lisa's for pizza, where we were joined by El Jefe, Cake Lady, Conner, and the Matriarch. Four extra-large pizzas were consumed, and a good time was had by all.
This morning we looked askance at the red beach health sign, and then jumped in. There were big choppy waves out of the northeast that pushed us towards shore, but the water was beautifully clear, and you could see the sun streaming through it all the way to the bottom.
River swim tomorrow!

Love the "We fight authority" comment!
Sir James won the Inaugural Cream City Classic, at a blazing 32 minutes over the 1.5 mile course. Way to go James!
Applause for Sir James
Best line of the day:
Itch is being interviewed by a reporter from WTMJ, and is telling him that you get a whole different perspective or view of Milwaukee, being in the river, compared to being beside the river, and the reporter asks: "And how'd it look, pretty?" To which Itch responded: "Pretty? It was a race, not a sight-seeing tour! I didn't have no time to look at it!"

With the 1.5 mile Cream City Classic under my belt, I've got a Big Swell question. Wondering if most people do the 5k or the 2.5k distance? The longest I've swam is 3.8k in calm water. That said, I ain't no slouch. If people do The Swell for the 5k, I'm not going to be the one with training wheels.
My experience from last year is that it is a pretty good mix, Super Hera. 2.5 K, 5K: pretty even. I just signed up for the 5K wetsuit event this afternoon. I think you have until Wednesday. Chop chop.
I did the 2.5K last year (no wetsuit) and will do the same again. I feel that's more commensurate with my training (extra points for multisyllablism.)
More applause for Sir James!
No swim updates. Did everyone croak from their e.coli infections?
