More than Brief Recap of the Sunday Swim:
Table of Contents:
Chapter 1: Tri-Wi Yearly Picnic
Chapter 2: Fog
Chapter 3: Swimming
Chapter 4: Chit-Chat and Complaining
Chapter 5: Gigantic Plot Twist and Denouement
Epilog: Tri-Wi Yearly Picnic
Appendix A: The Crew Guzzles Champagne Courtesy of Itch
Appendix B: Complaints Department
Chapter 1: In which Ted invites the Tri-Wi peeps for a pre-picnic swim. Swim time was noon, and thus everyone was on the beach at 11:59.
Chapter 2: Strange, mid-day fog made for an eerie, mysterious atmosphere. Warm air, cooler water, yadda yadda weather talk.
Chapter 3: We all jumped into the water and swam south. Surprise plot twist: the Plys arrive, late. (Well, not really late, unless you're a time-obsessed triathlete). Swims of varying distances ensue.
Chapter 4: Swims of varying distances conclude, and lots of idle chit-chat ensues, including discussion about the trillions of gnat carcasses clogging the shore, and bitching about the scarcity of blog posts. No-Ply easily masters the SUP. Idle chit-chat continues, including bafflement regarding where the F some of the swimmers still are.
Chapter 5: The straggling swimmers arrive back at the beach, and a gigantic plot twist is revealed-- some of them swam to Big Bay. And back.
Epilog: Many meet up later at the Estabrook Beer Garden for the Tri-Wi annual picnic. Non-Tri-Wi swimmers attend to eat the food. IceDog refuses to LET IT GO that he wasn't invited to swim to Big Bay. Beer is consumed and more chit-chat occurs. Don Diego makes his triumphant return to the fold. Forger's spicy pickled green cherry tomatoes were the hit of the soiree.
Appendix A: Photo documenting post-swim frivolity from last Thursday nearly lost to the mists of time. In an unexpected turn of events, Itch brought champagne to the beach, and the tiny bubbles delighted everyone. Well.... almost everyone.

Appendix B: If you were one of the people complaining about the scarcity of blog posts, you better have read this far. In fact, add a comment proving to me that you did.

The Cap's Novella has restored my faith in the editorial integrity of the blog; I won't be cancelling my subscription.
Best blog of the season!!
Your new job--novella writer. Consider it your renaissance career.
Fantastic blog, all the way to end!
You forgot the prologue in which Saturday swimmers dessert poor maid Beth, leaving her alone on the beach with a drunken pirate Capt’n.
To set the record straight this epic Novella was BY Showgirl ABOUT Capt'n (and other scallywags) right? (And not the other way around.) It be like calling Hemingway Fitzgerald...
Correct. To be fully PC it was a quite drunk and jolly Cap'n.
O Captain, My Captain!
Don't keep us in suspense, Patriarch. What happened on Saturday between the abandoned maid Showgirl and the drunken Pirate Cap'n?
Oh drunk girl, er ,I mean Show girl, that is not the way it went. As Itch kept pushing the goal line further, I was simply trying to ascertain his swimming time to beer time ratio, and whether this was a swimming club with a drinking problem, or a drinking club with a swimming problem. I think the verdict may still be out.
Cap'n drunk on the beach. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTi40w0nLgo
on a different note--anybody going back into the river? https://www.wisn.com/article/mmsd-has-second-sewage-dump-in-a-week-s-time/22844705
Hey! I was there Sunday. The whole damn crew was there, it seemed. I swam. Right into bugs. I talked to a few people in the water (Itch, Moondawg, one or two others). Said precious little on shore. And left early. But still, what does a guy have to do to get a little recognition?
I really liked reading the swimming novella, all the same. Good job! Glad some folks did the Big Bay round trip. It’s a good swim.
I also swam the moonrise last night (Monday) down at Bradford. A lot of weird stuff in the water, some of it scary: glowing flotsom, moving lights that were not boats, and litter.
Dear Magic Mike - I deeply apologize for omitting you from the blog post, and I have added you to the crew list so that your swim will be be documented for all of history.
It's a tough week for swimming what with thunder storms and sewage discharge...
There I am! My name is in print! I am somebody!
(remember "The Jerk" with naked Steve Martin and the dogs and the phone books?)
OK, so he wasn't naked with dogs in the "I am somebody" scene:

That was this scene:

Anyone up for trying to swim tonight? Fingers crossed I'll get there a bit before 5 because I need to get out of there early but I'm going to take advantage of all the swim days I can. It's still summer... It's still summer... It's still summer...
And by 5 I clearly meant 6. A bit before 6.
