Drangonfly--you were asking if adults really needed a big medal to finish a race? Well, the answer is yes--IF you turn that medal into something useful. Handyman took the ribbon off, placed some small rubberized protectors on the bottom and voila, we re-purposed the medal into a drink coaster. Now we are doing that with our old marathon and triathlon medals as well.
and we have matching coasters of Lakefront and Chicago since we ran them together. Well not together together--Mark is WAY speedier!
They also make nice Christmas tree ornaments.
good idea Moondaug. Some of them are really heavy--better for the larger branches.
