The sun was coming up fast this morning, but right at 6AM it was an amazing red spectacle, right on the horizon.  Shortly after that, it diminished to merely an average everyday beautiful sunrise.  Are we ever immune to this beauty? Hell no.

Diablo gave us two thumbs up as we crossed paths on the ramp.

Lots of random stuff to report this morning.  There were two fire trucks (but no ambulances) on the street just south of Klode.  TattooLady said, "that person is having a bad morning." (Mistress of understatement.)

There was also a large, loud, gaggle of teenagers in the water just off the rockpile as we were pulling ourselves together for the swim.  One said casually, "I'm drowning." By the time we entered the water they had retreated to the rockpile, with no fatalities.  I considered giving them a stern lecture as I swam by but... when has that ever accomplished anything?  So I swam on.

After the last bout of big waves, the north sewerpipe had vanished completely from the beach.  I silently mourned it as another landmark lost.  RIP picnic table, Mudslide, various staircases...  But some civic-minded person has excavated it, and it regained it's landmark status.  Much like Venice and the Netherlands, I fear for its future.

There was chop out of the north, but the warm clear water made it easy to ignore.  Many swam to NewMudslide, and some went further.

Speaking of temporary landmarks, out from New Mudslide there was a tree washed into the lake.  All summer it's had a few little branches above the water, optimistically growing leaves, pretending to be a willow or a mangrove. But no more. RIP tree.

Post swim, fog was rolling in as the Klode Kru rolled out.
