Last Swim: Tuesday 6AM
Water Temp: 65.6
Air Temp: low 70s, higher with the sun
Clarity: Good enough
Waves: Pretty smooth

Kru:  Unknown guy on early shift.  Patriarch, Pool Noodle, Handyman Hank, Luna Laguna, Lt. MJ, Kathy, Chris, Mr. Anonymous, other lady Masters swimmers, Dragonfly

As I pulled into the the parking lot the sun caught a piece of cloud and the entire mass blazed over the horizon.  A waning gibbous moon sailed the halycon blue overhead.  In short, another absolutely amazing Tuesday morning.  One runs out of adjectives, and as Handyman Hank said, "Sometimes it's just a regular day."  If this is a regular Tuesday, we will take it!

Notice however no words like Perfect or Ideal....the temperature at 65.6 (thank you, Patriarch) made itself felt.  Some people audibly wished for 72...or 80.  It actually felt warmer than that - 67? comfy on the surface and a colder layer below, with some colder pockets to the north.  Ironically, for once it seemed warmest near the rocks!

The Lake and curve of shoreline glimmered greenish brown, while the canoe and first rock wall shone golden in the rising sun.  After several days of waves, it felt flat, though it wasn't totally.  Swimming felt fast, smooth & easy.  Many went to Staircase at Mudslide or further.  Apres-swim, several lingered in the afterglow.  Perhaps not Ideal, but certainly idyllic.  Maybe it's like the Amish purposely putting a mistake in each quilt:  If there is some small imperfection, we will slip under the radar, unenvied by the gods...

And, best of all, NVM!!! No. Visible. Millipedes.  A year ago on this day, there were a cringe-worthy 4+ milipedes to every square foot on the beach path at dawn, so that even if you didn't feel yourself treading on them, you probably were.  They infested our towels, bags, and cars.  People wrote haikus in a determined if ultimately futile effort to embrace the phenonemon.  Hopefully this will not be necessary this year.

Public Service Announcement, courtesy of Handyman Hank:

The Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin has a "pint for a pint" drive on for August.  A pint of beer for a pint of blood.  Make an appointment, but there are plenty of slots.  The voucher is good at Third Space, Mobcraft, Lakefront, MKE Brewing, and many others. See their Facebook page for more info!

Please remember, your VOTE Counts!
