It was another lovely morning at the beach, and the bonanza of amazing summer swimming continues.
I was running a bit late, but still everyone was chit-chatting on the beach when I arrived, apparently awaiting anyone with the authority and equipment (i.e. fish tank thermometer) to take a temperature reading: 65.
Same as yesterday, we swam south. There were swells and definite current, which made the return trip much easier. The sun illuminated the shoreline, and the waning moon was also present.
We continue to speculate about the purpose of the evenly spaced marks on the eroded shoreline... some of them made on piles of sticks, so definitely not made to last. It would have been nice if they had spiffed up Love Rock while they were out there with the spray paint, but, as if we needed further evidence, we don't control everything.
Speaking of one thing you can control: tomorrow is election day. You still have time to return your mail-in ballot (use your community's drop box, NOT the post office) or... be a renegade and vote in person.
*haha, I kid. We still have no idea what the purpose of the pink marks on the south shoreline are.

Damn...I got suckered in by the false promise. Still wondering about those pink marks. Another day...
With any luck it means that we will have more swim outings to look at cranes and backhoes!
Which reminds me of three interesting names for the site of the most recently created landmark south of Love rock. I was talking with Cindy before the swim. She mentioned two names she has for that spot: new rock city and fresh rocks. In my head, I refer to it as crane pile. Any other name suggestions? The landmarks get names in much the same way as the swimmers.
I think of it as back hoe lol
Fresh Rocks is my first choice. New Rock City is good, too
Moby Rocks
Or Moby wall.
Ha! Moby Whall!!
The Boulder Holder BoHo for short).
Did anyone swim this morning? Linda and I got it in yesterday afternoon. In a wonderful coincidence, we both showed up exactly at 1pm and swam South to Love Rock. Wondering how the lake and beach fared after the storm.
Hi Folks,
Rick from Boston here. Due to the pandemic, I may not make it back to Milwaukee this summer, but I wanted you to know I was thinking of you all. That comment in the main post about a " bonanza of amazing summer swimming" resonates with our experience in Boston. Due to the closure of so many pools, we've had amazing turn-outs for our various open water swims. The days have been hot, and the ocean a bit warmer than usual.
I hope to make a trip out in the fall, and I will definitely check in with the Klode Crew.
Best,
Rick
