The cottonwood trees on the bluff were blowing seeds everywhere, and the way they danced in the air gave the appearance of a gentle snowstorm.  It added to the magic of a near perfect day on the beach.

The only flaw is the many boats and jet skis that zoom through the bay, today and on other warm weekend afternoons. I looked it up. There are a ton of boating regulations, including one that says that boats and jet skis should operate at "no wake" speed within 200 feet of shore and within 100 feet of a swimmer.  But these regulations are obviously ignored.  Also I doubt if boaters or jet ski operators are watching out for swimmers especially far offshore.

So my conclusion is that the only safe thing to do when boats and jet skis are around is to swim very close to shore.  I suppose this sounds like surrendering to the dark forces. I know many of you like to swim deep. But any confrontation between boater and swimmer is not likely to turn out good for the swimmer.  So I'm just saying; be careful out there.
