Yesterday's epic battle between the forces of wind and sun was clearly won by wind. The sun was scorching hot, warming the water, but the west wind was even stronger, blowing the warm water offshore and bringing up the cold water from the depths. The water temp dropped to 60 Thursday evening and was down to 50 Friday morning. So you'd think anyone with a brain and an ounce of common sense would say, "OK, we'll just wait until the wind shifts in our favor again, which is predicted this weekend".
But there is a third force I had not counted on. A force so malevolent, so evil, so devious that it easily overcomes sun and wind, and common sense too. Diablo! The devil himself. When we arrived at the beach Friday morning there he was - out in the water without a wetsuit, daring us to follow. Some of us displayed maturity and restraint and resisted the devil's call. But there are those among us, insecure in their manhood and lacking any common sense, that could not let Diablo's challenge pass. In they went. Just to show you are crazy they are, afterwards Cap'n was talking about coming back at 6PM to do it again (you are welcome to join him, but I wouldn't advise it).
For the rest of us there is hope on the horizon. Today's wicked west wind is predicted to veer east tomorrow afternoon, which in theory should blow the warm water back in. Unless of course Diablo has some other diabolical plan.

So is there a 6 PM swim or not?
Wow, I'm impressed at that count !
"But there are those among us, insecure in their manhood and lacking any common sense, that could not let Diablo's challenge pass." I think not, rather optimistically I would say-"One for all and all for rum". After all, how could we let poor
Diablo swim it alone.
Oops, I meant to say "One for all and all for one."
