Hey there. I'm preparing for the Lake Geneva Olympic on 9/23 and would like to do a few more open water swims before then. I'd much prefer to swim with others. Any thoughts on planned swims for the next two weeks? Looks like you've had semi-regular mornings & evenings for this past year.
Thanks much,
TOM
fyi - Robin and I will be swimming tomorrow (Saturday) at 9AM.
Hi Tom. I think it's a safe bet, based on the weather and surf forecast, that members of the Klode Kru will be swimming next week M-Th at 6a and 6p, F at 6a, 5:30 pm and around noon next Sa/Sun. Exact times will be posted on the blog. The following week will likely be similar unless water temp tanks. At some point in fall we usu adjust the time of eve swims as sunset gets earlier.
Excellent, thanks for the information. Hoping things stay reasonably warm for the next couple of weeks, although I haven't figured out what typical Lake Geneva water temps are in later September. Mid 60's with a little chop might be good prep.
Anyway, I'll have to see which days / times work. Glad to know there will be people out there. I assume I just park in the lot and then come down to the beach.
Thanks,
TOM
We generally meet at the flagpole at the exact time and then we walk down to the south breakwall. We generally swim as a group, North or south depend on wind and current.
Big Shoulders report? Our 1pm swim was delightful but 5k in waves would be tough stuff.
Patriarch and I did 2.5 k wetsuit swims. Itch and Mitch did 5K no wetsuit. The water temp per Itch-mometer was 64.9 degrees. Huge chop, very unpleasant, made all three legs of the course very challenging. Nevertheless the sun shone and a great time was had by all.
