Great Open Water Swimming Story and Video

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2611777/Dolphins-scare-shark-British-swimmers-8-hour-challenge.html

The nearshore marine forecast is predicting waves as high as 12 feet Monday.  I can't recall ever seeing a prediction like that.  If it comes true it should be an awesome sight.

Goose update:  Two female geese are sitting on nests on the island in the Estabrook Park lagoon, guarded by a lone male.  I expect the eggs to hatch in about a week.

Hey, friends. I brought the family down to Klode on Mother's Day. The dead fish have arrived! Isn't that the sign that it's close to swim season? My kids actually got in up to their knees and caught some fish by hand (most were dead). My best guess from dipping my feet was 47-49 degrees. I plan to take an official temp around Memorial Day. While it was a terrible Winter, my hope is to be swimming by June 1. See you all very soon. Ben Speed

I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again too!

Harini and I ran to Klode this morning. The beach was beautiful, and the water was flat and clear. And yes, chilly.

I think this first swim last year was over Memorial Day weekend. Who's up for giving it a try this weekend?

KIDS, KIDS, KIDS! Pay attention to local TV stories, about the dangers of going into the Lake, like this one: http://on.aol.com/video/cold-water-dare-has-dangerous-consequences-518233128. (Note, at the end of the WISN story, the anchor indicates "Just a quick reminder here, it will, of course, be several more weeks before the water is warm enough to swim in." Really? That sounds like a dare to me!)
