Super Duper Full Moon Swim Sunday

Next Swims:  Saturday 6/22 1PM, Sunday 6/23 8:30PM

I've apologize for falling behind on my blogging duties.  I have some bums staying at my house and I can't rid of them.  If my brother and his wife don't leave soon I'll have to make them walk the plank.

Anyhow, let's swim Saturday at 1PM.  Sunday is "Super Full Moon", meaning that the full moon coincides with the moons closest approach to earth, creating a bigger and brighter full moon than usual.  Moonrise is 8:45 PM, so let's plan on an 8:30 swim.

A Beautiful Day on the Beach

Next Swims:  Mon & Tue June 17 & 18, 5:30AM,  also 6PM both days if anyone is interested (please comment if you are)

Last Swims:  Sat & Sun Jun 15 & 16 noon both days
Water Temp:  Sat 61, Sun 59
Waves:  small chop on Sat, almost calm on Sun
Water Clarity:  Very Good
Sat Crew:  Diablo, Kahuna, David, Cap'n, Patriarch, with Wonder Woman cheering us on (at least I think she was, when we returned to the beach at the end of our swim she wasn't there, maybe I dreamed the whole thing)
Sun Crew:  Diablo, James, Cap'n, Patriarch, Gumdrop, and special guest Tammy from Minnesota

Even though my water thermometer measured two degrees less than yesterday it actually felt warmer, maybe because of the hot sun, or maybe there was a pocket of cold water where I measured it.  Regardless of the actual temp, it was cold enough and Cap'n did yeoman's work swimming skin to mudslide and back.  James also swam skin, I'm not sure how far he went, all I ever see of him is his wake.

We were joined by Tammy who is vacationing here from Minnesota with her family.  Somehow she found us on the web.  She was good sport, putting up with cold water and our bad jokes, and downing a Killepitsch with us to culminate a great day.

P.S. Bubba where the heck are you??

Warming Up

Next Swims:  Saturday 6/15 noon Klode, Sunday 6/16 noon Klode

Last Swim: Friday 6PM
Water Temp: 66
Waves:  small
Water Clarity:  Terrible near shore, we had to go a ways out to get to clear water
Crew: Geoffrey, Captain, Patriarch

Every day it warms up another degree or two.  Hopefully this trend will continue.  Geoffrey and I donned wetsuits but Cap'n went skin for a pleasant swim to mudslide and back.

Tammy from MN: meet us at noon in the Klode parking lot (the first one, on the bluff overlooking the beach).  Don't be put off by the wild-eyed, stooped, muttering and drooling wretch you will see wandering the parking lot, that's just the Captain.
