Next Swim: Previously I said we'd begin morning swims this week, but after today's frigid 46 degree water we decided that maybe we should wait until it warms. But a strange thing has happened. The maps currently (i.e. 8:30 pm Monday) show the water temps at 60! It's hard to believe, but we've seen dramatic swings in temperature before. Maybe the maps are wrong but maybe they're not. Is it worth taking a chance? I think so. I would be willing a swim attempt Tuesday (June 1st) if anyone else will. Either morning or afternoon. Leave a comment on the blog.
Tuesday morning update: I'm not sure what happened but the maps now show cold water again! So I guess we'll not swim Tuesday and hope for better tomorrow.
Last Swims: Saturday, Sunday, and Memorial Day noon
Water temps: Saturday 52 (chilly on the Scot scale), Sunday 49 (cold), Memorial Day: 46 (Baltic)
Waves: Choppy Saturday, Calm Sunday and Memorial Day
Water Clarity: Crystal
Saturday Crew: Gumdrop, Itch, Panini, Showgirl, Nivens McTwist, Mr. Anonymous, No Ply, Patriarch (all in wetsuits)
Sunday Crew: Neo, Showgirl, Nanook, Diana, Rosa, Mark (Vern?), Itch, Diablo (Diablo skin, the rest in wetsuits
Memorial Day Crew: Forger, Itch, Super Hera, Panini, Kahuna, Gumdrop, Showgirl, Diablo (Diablo skin, the rest in wetsuits
Plus numerous spectators (wimps?) on the beach all three days.
Shots: Too many to keep track of, I went through a bottle and a half this weekend so I estimate about 35 shots. Plus Itch some more of his swill (which someone commented makes Killepitsch taste good).

Memorial Day & Weekend Plans
Next Swims: Memorial weekend, Saturday, Sunday & Monday, May 28, 29, & 30, noon each day.

Dazzling
Next Swims: We'll swim all Memorial Day Weekend, Saturday, Sunday and Monday, and maybe Friday too. We'll start weekday morning swims after Memorial weekend. Check back for exact times.
Last Swim: Sunday May 22nd noon
Water Temp: 54 or 55 or 56 depending on who's thermometer you believe.
Waves: Small Chop
Water Clarity: Good
Crew: Showgirl, Crash, Kahuna, Capt'n, Diablo, Neo, Andy, Itch, Mr. Anonymous, Gumdrop, Patriarch
Wetsuit/Skin: 9/2
Shots: 16 (we got carried away with the beautiful day and the great swimming) Itch accused Crash of being drunk but that's the pot calling the kettle black.
Maybe it's just because I missed Her so much this winter, but the lake seemed a dazzling bright brilliant blue today. I'm at a loss to describe the color. Aquamarine? Cobalt? Azure? Cerulean? Sapphire? Royal? I think I'll go with turquoise. It almost hurts your eyes to look at Her.
We had our firstlunatic skin swimmers of the year today: kudos to Itch and Diablo.
Thanks to the people who bought raffle tickets from me. And for those who didn't, don't worry still plenty of time.

Let's Go Swimming!
Next Swim: Saturday May 21st 11AM
Last Swim: Too long ago to remember
The lake is warming up rapidly. The maps show the water temp edging toward 50. But I did not expect the text I got from Itch: a picture of the beach, the water dead calm and the message "55 and crystal clear". Now Itch is not a man to be trusted, his mental state at any given moment is questionable and he is still in deep depression after being stood up at the altar by Showgirl.
But in this case I choose to believe him, even if it's only wishful thing because I'm anxious to plunge into the cool embrace of Lady Lake. So Itch and I are going to give it a go 11AM tomorrow. Join us if you dare. Or if you're a lunatic.
