Greg and Ted (a.k.a The Patriarch and The Cap'n, a.k.a Dos Locos) will record their excellent Lake Michigan swim adventures here. We'll provide daily updates on lake conditions, and our plans for upcoming swims. In addition we'll write some observations, ramblings, rants, and wacko theories related to Lake Michigan swimming (or not).
[Elton John made big money, writing lyrics like the above -- go figure.]
Report Re: 7/19/25 A.M. swim.
Upcoming Swims: See below "typical" schedule.
Kru: Good sized Kru this morning, including Kim, Shirley, Lake Scquatch, Lauren, Hannah, Ron, Mrs. Hollywood, Kladecky, Scott (new guy), Showgirl, "Rock Me Like a Hurricaine," Kim, Guardian Goddess, Lt. MJ, Mr. Anonymous, Hardware Hank, Kahuna, others (my appologies if I missed your name, please add in comments).
Water: 68.5 degree temp; waves flat. Improving clarity. No current of note.
Air Temp and Weather: Cloudy, calm, 75 degrees.
Other Notes: Great Blue Heron spotted post swim (pictured above) by Hank on South Beach. I asked Hank if he was biking home, and he said "yes, I brought my donut bike." To which I replied "what's a donut bike?" To which he replied "It's the bike I ride when I want to stop and get donuts." (Duh?) I wonder if Hank also has a "beer bike," an "olive bike," and a "frozen pizza bike." I rode with Hank back to Shorewood, past Three Lions (regrettably, not yet open when we rode by), and dropped Hank at Metro Market, so he could stop to buy donuts for Nancy Northshore. Good man.
Typical Weekly Swim Schedule: The Typical Schedule for group swims is M-F 6 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.; Sat. & Sun. 8 a.m. and noon. All swims (unless otherwise expressly indicated are at Klode
Beach (WFB). Check blog comments, for additional "impromtu" group swims, or changes to the schedule.)

Saturday noon swim, five of us, water 67’F, <6” waves, clarity 6 on a 10 scale, drizzle at start, nice after and a little air show during. Best swim of the season.
Other Dave here. AKA Bobber. AKA Lost & Found. AKA just an ordinary, average guy. Anyway, thank you Kahuna and Forger for the recent updates at Klode. Surprised to hear today that the big lake has calmed down so much since Thursday. Great swims ahead on the horizon.
Extended forecast for the next 10 days is for mostly easterly winds, so that bodes well for good water temperatures.
